Ergonomics in the workplace can be in a way compared to “The Story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears” and the comfortable bed situation, every employee has their own “Ahhh, this is just right.” What might be the best fit for one employee, might not necessarily be the best fit for another.

Ergonomics is defining the workplace and tasks the capabilities of the working population. It seeks to fit a job to the person, rather than the person to the job. Since we come in all shapes and sizes, this opportunity continues to be a challenge. The most valuable asset a company has, is their employees, so safeguarding their physical wellbeing is paramount. Providing a safe and healthy environment will lead to more employee engagement, productivity and focus when implemented correctly. Additionally, it will drastically reduce incidental and repetitive injuries. The employee will experience less fatigue and discomfort during their workday resulting in higher productivity. Lastly, less turnover, a decrease in absence, and improved moral are additional benefits. Studies show a standing position can help increase productivity, even in the office.
