Is Flex Craft really one of the “Best Places to Work”?? 🤔

It’s a fair question, and one that deserves more than a quick “yes” or a logo stamped on a website. Because let’s be honest: awards can be misleading. Plenty of companies earn recognition for culture, but what really matters is what it feels like to work there on an ordinary day. Not during a celebration. Not when leadership is giving a speech. Just a regular Tuesday morning, when deadlines are tight, problems need solving, and people have to rely on each other to get the job done. That’s where the truth shows up.
At Flex Craft, being named a “Best Place to Work” isn’t something we view as a finish line. If anything, it creates a little pressure, the good kind. The kind that forces you to ask: Are we actually living this out, every single day?
Because a great workplace isn’t built on perks. It’s built on consistency. It’s in the way leaders communicate; not just when things are going well, but when they’re not. It’s in whether employees feel comfortable speaking up with ideas, concerns, or even disagreements. It’s in how accountability is handled; fairly, clearly, and without avoiding tough conversations. And maybe most importantly, it’s in whether people feel like they’re growing. That’s something we think about a lot.
Though growth can be promotions or titles, it doesn’t always mean that. Sometimes it looks like giving someone the opportunity to take on a new challenge. Sometimes it’s mentoring the next generation; whether that’s through internships, partnerships with schools, or supporting robotics teams and young talent in our community. Sometimes it’s simply creating an environment where people can get a little better at what they do every single day.
We also believe a strong culture doesn’t stop at the front door. Being a “Best Place to Work” should ripple outward. It should show up in how a company supports its local community, how it invests in relationships, and how it contributes to something bigger than itself. For us, that’s meant staying connected to the communities we’re part of and finding ways (big and small) to give back.
Now, none of this means we get it right all the time. We don’t. There are still gaps. There are still moments where communication could be clearer, processes could be better, or expectations could be more aligned. But the difference; and what we think matters, is that we don’t ignore those moments. We look at them, talk about them, and work to improve them.
This mindset of “continuous improvement” is at the core of who we are. It’s easy to apply that thinking to manufacturing processes. It’s harder, and far more important, to apply it to people and culture. That takes intention, consistency, and a willingness to hear things you might not always want to hear.
So, is Flex Craft really one of the “Best Places to Work”?
We think the better answer is this: We’re committed to doing the work required to be one.
Not just when it’s visible or when it’s recognized. But in everyday moments that actually define a workplace. And after 20 years, that commitment hasn’t gone away, it’s only gotten stronger. Because in the end, titles don’t build culture. People do. 💪
